PART 1
Originally I actually wanted to draw more of a one-page comic/story type of scene, but the logistics of it for a physical medium would have been an extra mountain of work compared to just doing a straight observational drawing so I had to table it (although I'd like to revisit it, I like the idea of telling stories with single/few cleverly arranged scenes).
Ultimately I went with drawing my brother's Trek Marlin 7 mountain bike, a fairly straightforward hardtail design. I was first going to use my Commencal Meta enduro bike, but it's in the shop and in hindsight it would have been a bigger undertaking since it has practically twice the parts (and twice the weird forms to conceptualize and shade). All in all it turned out decent; I could have done better with line/shape accuracy, value balance, and overall compositional arrangement, but as always these are time limited projects and they need to be done sooner rather than later.

Here's some of the thumbnails and works-in-progress that led up to the final product.
