Spent way too much time on this and it still definitely needs work, but you gotta call it quits at some point.
Primary tools were charcoal pencils (way easier to use than loose charcoal), but for the hallway and tree shading I ended up using some sanded/ground charcoal with a spare paintbrush I had lying around for a smoother application. Since I can't reliably draw an accurate likeness of a human head yet (I tried), the general outline was accomplished by using the gridding method and then scaling it up with about a 1:1.25 ratio. I also used a ruler for the hallway items on the right side, because rotating an entire canvas just to draw a straight line ain't gonna happen.
Had fun with this one, mainly because of the change over to pencils. They're a pain to sharpen properly but they're way more versatile.

In addition to the images I posted below I also used various other references throughout the process, either for direction/concepts or just to see more lighting to try to understand facial planes.
